New leader this week: it’s “Sing Me To Sleep” by Alan Walker. It’s haunting. And the video shot in my beloved Hong Kong brings me to tears. I miss that city so much! I need to arrange a trip there… I know I will. Sleep now, dream of Hong Kong streets.

Kazimierz Dolny

Oh, I do like traveling. Another weekend, another place! Where to this time? A wonderful small town called Kazimierz Dolny. You can easily find some information about it, but it’s so much better to go there and see it by yourself.

It’s located in the south-east of Poland, on the right bank of the Vistula river. In the past it used to be one of the most important cities in that region. According t Wikipedia, it is a considerable tourist attraction (truly is!) as one of the most beautifully situated little towns in Poland. Since the 19th century it has become a popular holiday destination, attracting artists and summer residents. It’s an art center in Poland. You can meet many painters painting and selling their works. Galleries can be found in almost every street. It’s so nice to go there for a weekend, maybe a little longer…

What’s there to see? Old Market Square, castle ruins, Jewish cemetery, churches, Three Crosses Mountain and Roots Gorge. And finally the river cruise! Awesome view of the whole town. Love, love, love.

if I were sorry

Frans is very patient. It seemed he wouldn’t be able to reach the top, but this week he’s done it! Really great. “If I Were Sorry” is a wonderful song and it’s the 2nd song from Eurovision Song Contest which has climbed to the top spot: the first was in 2009, Alexander Rybak with his “Fairytale”.

Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia

As my younger brother lives in Gdańsk, it’s so easy to have a weekend at the sea-side. Wonderful! I visited the Tricity again, and not the last time!

Gdynia – the cliff in Orłowo District, Sopot – Monte Cassino Street, a famous pedestrian street, too crowded in summer! And Gdańsk – Westerplatte Peninsula, a place where World War II began, there’s a monument of defenders and the slogan reads “No More Wars”. Very meaningful place.

too busy, too lazy

It’s happening again: either I’m too busy or too lazy to post something here regularly. Even the hitlist, which actually has been very regular since 2001 – is it the most regular activity I’ve been doing in my whole life? Quite possibly.

Toruń again

I went to Toruń, again. It’s just lovely. But that wasn’t the only reason… I just didn’t want to stay at home for the whole day. It makes me feel miserable, depressed. That feeling when minutes and hours slip through my hands.

I took my bike on the train and rode on the old streets. Wonderful. So many memories. I visited my campus, I rode my favourite street (Bydgoska St.), I sat down on the bench, read a book about Chopin. I rode along the new bridge across Vistula River, very long and picturesque! The only bad thing was… loneliness. Just me, myself, alone with my thoughts.

What can I say – I just love Jay! His “Lover From Previous Life” is leading my hitlist for the 3rd time and it seems that so far there’s no-one who can take this position from him. No-one… except Alan Walker who jumps with great confidence straight to #2. Let’s see next week!

Among 3 new entries there’s a fresh single from Frans – good timing, because “If I Were Sorry” has just started to go down; anyway it’s still in Top 5. Another new song is “Don’t Be So Shy” by Imany, which I can hear quite often in a remixed version on the radio. And one more is from JJ Lin: funny thing, I have his last year’s album, but I only listened to it several times, didn’t really enjoy it and actually didn’t notice that single. Better late than never!

前世情人

Jay Chou is sitting comfortably on the top spot of my list this week; is anyone surprised? Not really, as his new album has just been released. Brilliant artist! North-European artists are trying hard (Swedish Kent, Frans, Norwwegian Alan Walker, Icelandic Sigur Rós) but will they manage to climb over Jay? Additionally Pet Shop Boys are debuting their new single “Twenty-Something” – I’m sure they would like to score as big a hit as “The Pop Kids”… Personally I don’t think they can do it, but anything is possible: Alan Walker only spent one week on the list with his previous song “Faded”, and look what’s happening with his new hit! Big surprise.

Iława

Last week I went to Iława county in the north-east of Poland. With my colleagues – that was a weekend organized by the heads of our department to get us closer. Nice, although there was a bit too much drinking! Not everyone could manage! Anyway, look at the view: very peaceful, there’s a lake called Łabędź (Swan), there’s a meadow with … I want to say dandelions, but their season was 2 months ago! – still beautiful…

I love being in nature. I don’t need much, just a little bit of sunshine and quietness.

New leader this week: after a huge leap Jay Chou is at #1! And what’s more, his newest single is debuting at #13! What does it mean? Only that my idol is back with the new album! Hopefully I can listen to it soon. Jay Chou truely is a star. An angel. He is synonymous with my staying in China. … and how meaningful is his song’s title! “Lover From Previous Life” – it definitely is touching.

Another new entry belongs to The Last Shadow Puppets, who of course have a big chance scoring another big hit with “Miracle Aligner”.
