Beijing thoughts

Beijing is hot.
Beijing isn’t colourful. It is grey and brown.
Beijing is tempting.
Beijing is way too crowded.
Beijing roasted duck is so filling. Heaven.
Poland’s embassy is next to American one. Easy to find.
Beijing public buses are cheaper than those in Hangzhou.
Beijing subway isn’t as good as that in Hong Kong.
To go back to the airport is very convenient. Airport Express is fast, clean and quiet.
To leave Beijing, you must be patient. I had been waiting for 2 hours on the plane, before it finally took off. Argh!

travelling month

It’s a travelling month. I like it, of course. Nothing gives me such fresh feeling as changing the environment.
June 6th-8th – Hong Kong – to obtain a working visa – got it!
June 20th-21st – Beijing – to vote for a new president of Poland (in Polish embassy). Yes, I know I can do it also in Shanghai, but climbing the Great Wall again is too tempting. 不到长城非好汉! And by the way, few days later is also the day!
June 25th-26th – Shanghai – to attend Jay Chou’s concert! Yes, my favourite idol 周杰伦! Finally I will see him live! This is exciting! And on the following day I will probably visit World Expo, which is currently held in Shanghai. Will I be able to get through those wild crowds described in every article about Expo? Let’s see!

Robin Hood

Holiday time – today is Dragon Boat Festival (端午节). Nothing special for me, people supposed to eat glutinous rice called zongzi (粽子), but I’ll just enjoy the lazy time.
I went to the cinema last night; watched "Robin Hood", new film with Russell Crowe, directed by Ridley Scott. Quite nice entertainment, I liked it! It’s a story a bit different from previous ones – I would describe it as prequel to those. It tells about Robin’s adventures before he was outlawed, before he lived in Sherwood…

random thoughts

* Sunday morning. Got up very early, at 5 am! Oh god. Took a bus to the airport at 6 am. Arrived at the airport, checked-in, got onboard and waited… The plane supposed to take off at 7:50. It didn’t. Flight attendands delivered food and drinks and we still waited. The plane departed at 9:30. Oh god. Arrived at Shenzhen after 11, then immediately took a bus to the border with Hong Kong. Welcome, Hong Kong! It’s always nice to see you!
* Sunday afternoon. Met Ricky, my best friend. Went to Wanchai (灣仔) to check where Chinese consulate was located. Easy to find so no worries! Took a walk on Hong Kong streets, took some photos, had dinner. Nice lazy afternoon. Maybe it’s because of Hong Kong?
* Monday morning. Got up early, just after 7. Didn’t have breakfast, just headed to Wanchai (灣仔). There was a queue in front of the consulate, although not too long. I was 33rd. Applied for visa. Was told to wait until the next day. OK… And then had breakfast. What to do next?
* Monday afternoon. Went to Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀). Bought some DVDs. Took a ferry there and back. Wonderful weather, wonderful place! Took many, many photos! Amazing buildings! Felt so small standing in front of each.
* Monday evening. Met Ricky again. Had dinner at Spaghetti House. Oh god. So delicious. Pasta with salmon – finger licking! How come everything tastes so good in that place? Maybe too hungry? After dinner took a walk again. Love Hong Kong streets. Love Hong Kong trams. Love Hong Kong everything.
* Tuesday morning. Got visa. No problems. Paid for express service – 250 HKD. Went back to the hotel, packed stuff and checked-out. Took a train back to the border. Confused the trains! Instead of Lo Wu (羅湖), went to Lok Ma Chau (落馬洲). Oh god. Arrived at Shenzhen airport in the early afternoon.
* Waited for the plane. This time it wasn’t delayed. Arrived at Hangzhou after 6 pm. Raining. Heavy rain. Hangzhou wasn’t very welcoming? At least very fresh!…
* Missing Hong Kong.
